Haehl Ceramics is a duo of studio potters: Kelly Haehl & Ryan Lack.
We met at a wood-fired kiln in Albion, Michigan in 2013. Ever since, we have been a team in life and business.
Previous to meeting, Kelly did a few art fairs a year around the Detroit area, and Ryan was a fixture at the Brighton and Howell Farmer's Markets.
We started doing art fairs together in 2014, and got our first big break doing mug club beer steins for Drafting Table Brewing Company in Wixom, Michigan. Brewery orders are still some of our favorite commissions to do!
We were married at the same kiln we met at in November 2017.
Kelly received a Studio Art/Ceramics BFA in 2009 from Michigan State University. She gained invaluable ceramic production knowledge over her 7 years as a glaze technician at Pewabic Pottery before venturing out to self-employment in August 2017.
Ryan is a self-taught ceramic artist, specializing in ceramic miniatures. He also enjoys dissecting and building pottery equipment - his first pottery wheel was made from an old treadmill! His current project is building small, affordable wheels.
